About Martin Cardy Woodwind and Brass Instrument Repair

 Martin in his workshop

As a local instrumental teacher working in schools in and around the Bristol area, Martin began maintaining and repairing many of his student's instruments. Due to increasing demand Martin decided to take the opportunity of an apprenticeship with a Boosey and Hawkes trained repairer. After this Woodwind Repairs was born in 1999. The business has grown steadily since then and many schools, teachers and other local musicians have become regular customers.

In 2004 Martin was accepted by the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers - N.A.M.I.R as a professional member. As part of N.A.M.I.R, customers benefit from the Associations code of practice and the wealth of specialist knowledge available from this small group of specialists.

Martin has been joined by another local N.A.M.I.R member and together work on larger projects and generally assist each other when required. This has brought together many years repairing experience and has seen the addition of Brass Repairs to the services offered.

A purpose built workshop was constructed in 2005. This dedicated repair area has been equipped with specialist tools and equipment which are constantly enhanced to enable more specialist repairs to be undertaken.
